Problem
What was unclear or broken
A charity accepting donations needs the money path to feel trustworthy before anyone taps 'Donate' - a donor wants to see exactly what a BDT 10,000 Quick Donate funds (a named campaign, a live progress bar), not a generic 'support us' button, and the foundation runs many simultaneous asks at once (emergency appeals, orphan/teacher/mosque sponsorships, water projects, interest-free loans) that each need their own campaign page and running total without a donor losing track of which one they're giving to.
Constraint
What I was working against
Bangladeshi donors split across bank transfer (for larger or monthly gifts), mobile wallets (bKash/Nagad/Rocket for everyday donors) and card payments via SSLCommerz, so no single payment rail covers the base - every campaign needed all of them side by side. Zakat giving specifically needed its own flow, since the amount a donor sends is computed from a nisab calculation rather than picked from a fixed suggested amount like a normal donation.
Decision
The call I made
I built Quick Donate as one reusable component - preset amounts (1,000/2,000/5,000/10,000) plus custom, with a one-time/monthly toggle - and attached it to every campaign, sponsorship and appeal page rather than building a single global donate form, so a progress bar and payment-method set render per-campaign while sharing the same donation logic everywhere. The Zakat calculator was built as its own separate flow rather than folded into Quick Donate, since its amount is computed, not chosen.
Outcome
What shipped
Shipped a platform live at sabasanabil.org carrying 80+ monthly fundraising campaigns (2020-present) across emergency appeals (Gaza, flood relief), orphan/madrasa-teacher/mosque sponsorship, community water projects, interest-free loans (Karje Hasana), and self-reliance grants - each with Quick Donate, a live progress bar, and bank/mobile-wallet/SSLCommerz payment options - plus a standalone Zakat calculator, volunteer sign-up, and bilingual English/Bangla content.
Retrospective
What I'd change
Revisiting the live site now, content-side issues outnumber platform ones: several campaign 'Read More' links point to unrelated or generic slugs, two stories appear twice under different IDs, multiple excerpts cut off mid-sentence, and the Monthly Project Update cards are still showing 2021 entries next to news posts dated into 2025. None of that is a platform bug, it's unmaintained content, but if I touch this project again, adding a duplicate/stale-content check to the admin's publish flow would have caught most of this before it went live.
Sab'a Sanabil Foundation — Charity & Donation Platform
Designed and developed a complete donation and charity management platform for Sab'a Sanabil Foundation, a registered non-profit Islamic charity organisation based in Bangladesh.
The site features a Quick Donate system supporting both one-time and recurring monthly giving, dedicated campaign pages with live fundraising progress bars, emergency appeal handling, an interactive Zakat calculator, and sponsorship modules for orphans, madrasa teachers, and mosque projects. Additional sections cover project updates, news, photo galleries, testimonials, and volunteer registration.
Payments are handled through SSLCommerz alongside local mobile financial services (bKash, Nagad, Rocket). A custom admin panel lets the foundation manage projects, campaigns, donations, and content independently, with bilingual English/Bangla support throughout.
