Problem
What was unclear or broken
A one-off reunion for a college founded in 1993 needed registration open to 30+ years of alumni batches at once, each bringing a different mix of personal data (blood group, religion, home district/thana, group - Science/Commerce/Arts, office/designation) and an unknown number of accompanying guests, while the organizing committee still had to separately track teachers, organizers, volunteers and sponsors as distinct people-categories who all needed the same printed ID card at the gate.
Constraint
What I was working against
Registration fees arrive through five different channels (bKash, Rocket, Nagad, bank transfer, cash-in-hand) with no shared API across them, so every payment had to be recorded as a claimed transaction number plus an uploaded receipt photo and verified by an admin, not confirmed automatically - and the gate needed one printed-card workflow that could pull from four completely different tables (registered alumni, teacher directory, organizers, volunteers) without four separate print screens.
Decision
The call I made
I added a generic 'cleared for card/souvenir' flag (C4S) to every people-table - registration, religions, districts, sponsors - as the one gate between 'submitted/configured' and 'verified and eligible to print'. An admin marks a registration C4S='Y' only after checking the uploaded payment receipt, and both the Card Print and Financial Report screens filter on that same flag instead of re-deriving eligibility from PaymentStatus and Amount separately in each report.
Outcome
What shipped
Shipped a Sentinel-ACL (role/module/menu-driven permissions) Laravel 10 platform: public registration with photo upload (auto-resized to a fixed 531x650 ID-card ratio) and optional named guests, a five-method manual payment-verification flow, separate Teacher/Alumni directories, Organizer/Volunteer/Sponsor/Expense management, a unified four-type Card Print report (alumni/teacher/organizer/volunteer), and a Financial Report pairing registration-fee and sponsorship income against expenses by category, generated via barryvdh/laravel-dompdf. Retrospective
What I'd change
The registration form's Session dropdown runs from 1993 - the college's own founding year - to 2027, which nicely ties the data model to the institution's real timeline, but it's a hardcoded PHP loop in the controller rather than a configuration value, so next year's reunion would need a code change, not an admin setting, just to extend the range by one year.
1st Grand Reunion 2026 — Event Website
Designed and developed the official website for the 1st Grand Reunion of Chowbari Dr. Salam Jahanara College, held on 29 May 2026 in Kamarkhanda, Sirajganj.
The platform handles the full registration flow — alumni sign-up with batch and personal details, online payment for registration fees, and automatic confirmation. Registered participants can view their status and details from a dedicated panel.
Additional sections cover the event schedule, venue information, organising committee, notices, and a photo gallery. A custom admin dashboard lets organisers track registrations, verify payments, filter attendees by batch, and export participant lists for on-site management.
Built with a responsive, mobile-first layout since most alumni access the site from phones.
